VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT THE OVERFLOW SHELTER

The Overflow Shelter is located in the First Baptist Church at the corner of Park and Elm, lower level,
side door.  It is open seven days a week from 5:45 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., from December 1 to April 15.
 

Volunteer Shift Supervisor
      

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safety of guests

Extra training is supplied for this position

This position must be filled every night, all night, but one can volunteer for duty once a week or once a month for any of the following shifts (with some flexibility):

5:45p.m. to 10p.m.
10:00 to midnight
Midnight to 6:00 a.m.

Provide Snacks

No meals are offered at the Overflow Shelter, volunteers bring in snacks or light meals daily for breakfast and supper and clean up afterwards.
 

Assist Shift Supervisor

Help guests with housekeeping
Sign guests in or out
Visit with families, play with children
Help guests find supplies at the Donation Center. 

Do laundry

This can be done at the local Laundromat with a voucher or at the volunteer’s home.
